About Chuck

Chuck is a seasoned attorney seeking to help people with their legal issues.  He is a native of El Paso, Woodford County, Illinois.  He graduated from El Paso High School.

He then attended and graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of arts degree in economics.  After graduation from the University of Illinois, Chuck joined the United States Marine Corps and was commissioned an Officer of Marines.  After receiving his commission, Chuck attended and graduated from law school at Washington University in St. Louis in 1988 and was admitted to the bar that same year.

 

Chuck then entered active duty as a judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps.  As a judge advocate, Chuck did a wide variety of tasks.  He worked on the legal staff of a Marine Corps general.  He advised individual Marines on their personal legal needs such as wills, powers of attorney, and other private legal matters.  He also litigated cases in the military court system in regard to Marines charged with committing crimes.  During Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, Chuck performed many of these functions on the same day as he assisted Marines and Marine units in their preparations for armed conflict.  Following his time on active duty, Chuck remained in the Marine Reserves until 2005.

Upon completing active-duty service, Chuck and his family moved back to El Paso and Chuck joined an already established law practice.  In this law practice, he handled many of the legal issues he does today. He handled numerous residential and commercial real estate matters.  However, he was extensively involved in the courtroom representing people in a wide variety of topics including criminal law, family law, personal injury law, and commercial law.  He practiced law in private practice until he was elected Woodford County State’s Attorney in 1998.

As Woodford County State’s Attorney, Chuck was the attorney for the County’s elected officials and State’s Attorney for criminal and juvenile matters in the courtroom.  This provided Chuck with an excellent opportunity to professionally grow and gain important skills and perspectives.  In 2000, Chuck was selected by the Circuit Judges of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit to serve as an Associate Judge.  Chuck served as an Associate Judge, until 2014 when the Illinois Supreme Court selected him to serve as a Circuit Judge.  Chuck served as a Circuit Judge until his retirement from the bench in July 2024.

As a judge, Chuck served in Woodford, McLean, Logan, and Livingston counties.  He served as the Presiding Judge of Woodford County and the Presiding Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Veterans Treatment Court. 

Chuck is starting his 37th year as an attorney.  His career has been spent serving his fellow citizens.  He has a widely varied background that will assist him in assisting you.
